In accordance with the motto of the Franklin
Police Department, "Here to Serve and Protect",
the police station, located at the corner of
East Cedar and South Court Streets, serves the
public twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week.
The Franklin
Police department includes one Chief, one
Captain, one Lieutenant, three Sergeants, 2
Corporals, and thirteen patrolmen.
The department has made a major commitment to
training of employees. Police officers must
complete eighteen weeks of basic training at the
Department of Criminal
Justice Training in Richmond, Kentucky,
successfully complete a 12 week Field Officer
Training program, and continue in-service
training each year and monthly departmental
training.
We provide and coordinate the following: DARE
classes each year with the Franklin-Simpson
School Systems, Neighborhood Watch programs,
fingerprinting services for the public, and
"Safe-Spot" locations for children. Some
examples of specialty training our officers have
received include marijuana analysis,
methamphetamine lab technicians, firearms
instructors, ASP instructors, PPCT instructors,
crime scene processors, and evidence
technicians.
All employees of the department have multiple
duties and we are trained to do the best job of
"serving and protecting" that can be done. The
Franklin Police Department is always willing to
assist citizens with any problem, whether major
or minor, whenever we are needed.
